A kitty for when you get tired

They say to look a distance away from where you are sitting or try looking towards green fields to relax the tired eyes. I look for neither but stare at my cat. His calmness and steady breathing helps me to relax and I find that the moment's frustration or exhaustion fades off.

More and more in the recent months, I'm starting to appreciate Martin's company while I am working in the studio. He is a quiet soul when I am at work and a crazy wild being when it's time to call it a day.

Bang Bang he shot me down

Bang Bang he shot me down | Acrylic on watercolor paper

I think as artists we all have our different sources for inspiration. One of the few I indulge in very often would be music. 'Bang Bang he shot me down' is one of the many illustrations from the 'Doll' series I created some years back.

It started with Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill which featured the song. Then the radio began blasting it non stop. I was listening to Bang Bang when I had been feeling most jaded, hence leading to majority of the 'Doll' series leaning towards the darker side. I can only say that life brings new experiences that allows different levels of emotions, which in turn purges interesting series of works.

Here's the song. A remix actually, which I much prefer. Spunkier. Enjoy!
